Lake Norman Current Lake Level

Lake levels are measured on the lake side of hydrostation dams and are expressed in feet in relation to FULL POND where full pond is 100.0. Full pond at Lake Norman is equivalent to 760 feet above mean sea level. This "760" line is also important when purchasing waterfront property. If the property or dwelling falls below this "760" line, you will be required to obtain Flood Insurance.

Click here for current lake levels, historic lake levels or forecasted lake levels.

* Areas directly below the dam will see higher lake or river elevations due to water flow from the dam.

Lake Noman Annual Range

Due to Duke's customers' changing energy needs and changing weather conditions, hydro station operations will cause lake levels to rise and fall on a daily basis and seasonal basis. The annual range and the schedule for meeting that range are targets only; actual levels may be significantly higher or lower. Also, the target level may occur at any time during the identified month.
